PEOPLE MOVEMENT

VALTAC proposes to serve as a catalyst for reasoned public dialogue and to determine the public interest in moving people responsibly.
Freedom to move is a critical part of your personal economy. It is not always possible to live close to where you work, are educated and play. Moving people is a major cause of congestion in the Lower Mainland. Solutions require wise expenditures of public and private funds.

Families often balance housing costs with transportation costs. The costs and benefits of commuting long distances from cheaper housing need to be examined and made explicit. The integration of an effective transportation system with land use and economic development plans is a tenet of VALTAC. Exploring how this can work in practice is a goal of this website. Your thoughts are important contributions.

ROAD

Traffic congestion is the number one irritant in the Lower Mainland. The combination of the private vehicle, public roads and increasing fuel costs requires a major rethinking of how and why we move ourselves within the Lower Mainland of British Columbia
.

RAIL

Passenger rail infrastructure connects key destinations for people in some parts of the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. Thoughtful improvement and extension of this system offers improved people movement.

OTHER MODES

People come with a built-in movement capability. Pedestrian and cycle transport as well incorporating trip reduction in community plans offer health and lifestyle benefits beyond simply improving the movement of people.
